INFORMATION ABOUT A PLANNED BOOKING PROCEDURE

We are getting closer to the Conference and many of you might be thinking how to make your final arrangements to attend trainings, enjoy tours or get transportation from the airport to Tarragona and back. We are finalising everything and we’d like to inform you about the planned procedure.

From early-mid April, all transport combinations, trainings and tours information will be available to you from your profile on the EC2011 website – you’ll be able to see all services and activities we will be offering during the Conference. You’ll have the opportunity to book a seat in the most convenient bus, make a reservation for a tour or get a place at training in advance in an easy way. You will then be able to download all this information to your personal calendar and have it with you at any time!

We strongly recommend that all of you book your bus, tour and training in advance because at the Conference we only can guarantee the remaining places (e.g. if we’ve got a tour for 30 people max. and 28 registrations in advance, we will only allow 2 registrations onsite). Also, if we see in advance that there are more people interested in a certain activity we can open the activity for more people. This won’t be possible to do onsite. So watch out your profile on the web. More information is coming soon!

CONFERENCE OFFICIAL GUIDED TOURS

Wine and Cava Cellar Tours

Catalonia is well-known as a wine and cava producer. Enjoy an unforgettable visit to Priorat wineries and Penedès cava cellars in the region, soak up the nature and relax while enjoying the wine and cava.

Deep into WINE & CAVA tourism, two routes in which you can discover:

PRIORAT CELLARS TOUR

Priorat is synonym of craftsmanship and tradition. Its robust, seasoned wines are born and grown in inland regions, where they are cultivated on terraces along steep slopes with poor slate soil that is notoriously difficult to work with. The red Carinyena (Carignan) grape and the Garnatxa (Grenache) are the key to today’s Priorats. A subtle blend of these varieties produces robust, garnet-coloured reds, with rich, concentrated flavours and an intense bouquet.

(Recently, The New York Times published an article about Priorat so have a look: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/16/dining/reviews/16wine.html?_r=2.)

PENEDÈS CELLARS TOUR

The Penedès region lies in the low hills that run from the Mediterranean Sea to the Montserrat mountain across several small rivers valleys. It is one of the Catalonia’s most internationally well-known regions and it produces some 1,500,000 hectoliters a year, a large portion of which is used to make cava. Penedès white wines are light, fresh, fruity and aromatic with a moderate alcohol content. The reds, which are produced on a smaller scale, are smooth, velvety, complex and elegant with a distinct personality.
